Access Point Description:

Vessels permitted on Lake Oberon Only unpowered and electric powered vessels are permitted on Lake Oberon. Vessels or water craft fitted with internal combustion engines are prohibited, even if the engine is not started (penalties apply). Lake Oberon is ideally suited to the use of canoes, kayaks, and small fishing or sailing dinghies Lifejackets As Lake Oberon sits at 1068m above sea level, it is classed as Alpine Waters. LIFE JACKETS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES on vessels under 4.Bm in length, and canoes and kayaks (of any length). Speed Limit A speed limit of four (4) knots applies to all areas of Lake Oberon. Launching Sites A public launching site is provided off The Reef Reserve, with a parking area for vehicles. Launching at the Dam Wall is not permitted, as this falls within the safety exclusion zone. Safety on Lake Oberon Water levels on Lake Oberon fluctuate over time, and unmarked navigation hazards such as submerged rocks require ali vessel operators to navigate with caution For Safety reasons an exclusion zone is in place around the Dam Wall, marked by yellow buoys Weather Lake Oberon experiences extreme weather and sudden weather changes. Forecasts should always be checked before heading out. Take adequate clothing, and be aware of the risks of hypotheem;a and cold shock.
