Access Point Description:

The pontoon was recently enlarged through a joint effort between Willoughby Council and Lane Cove River Kayakers, who are based at the Athletics Field. It is accessible to the public at any time from the water, but only during daylight hours by road, as the gates to the park are usually locked between sunset to sunrise. There is full disabled access to the pontoon, with a gently sloping ramp. Toilets, shelter and water are available when the gates are open, with the shower block available to paddlers on Wednesday evenings. Paddle upstream for 2km to the National Park weir, or downstream 2km to Blackman Park and Sugarloaf Point opposite, or 4km to Figtree Bridge carpark. Take care on the western side of the river for hidden rocks and mud flats at low tide. Footwear is advisable if you are likely to swim. Paddling paradise right in the middle of Sydney.
